The Aspirations of the Austrade Commission
For several years now, many Asian countries have been prodded and ventured into by companies across the world. Not only are some of these regions becoming some of the fastest growing on the planet; some of them are beginning to offer substantial investment potential to those willing to dedicate the time.
Austrade, Australia’s leading investment organisation, recently undertook its own exploration of the Asian market and after careful research and investigation, one region drew far more interest than expected. And what was that region? Singapore. Why? Well, that’s what this informative article is dedicated to sharing with you.
The Australia Singapore Trade Mission
With access to several dozen other Asian countries and states, Singapore can offer a vital component that many Australian-owned businesses lack; accessibility. The Asian market is one of the largest in the world – and as Singapore operates under an English law system, the infrastructure is already there to ensure that all compliances and processes are met.
It is estimated that in order to convert the country into a hub for businesses (a hub that will offer substantial rewards to investors as well as residents of the region), roughly $1 trillion AUD will be required each year to maintain growth and sustain productivity. And this is what the Aus/ Sing trade mission was created for – to ensure the integrity and future potential of the region.
How Can Australian Businesses Benefit?
Just a few years ago a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) was introduced to allow both countries to engage in transactions and plans, in a way that would benefit all involved. With the financial input provided by Australia and the wide range of connectivity afforded by Singapore, the two countries can now work in collaboration with one another without many of the common limitations associated with cross-country engagements.
Furthermore, Singapore became the largest investor (foreign) within Australia in 2016, with trillions of dollars spent on importing, exporting and business operations plus the influx of Singaporean students to study for HSC Standard English & Maths papers. After careful evaluation, the trade mission was established to allow both countries to offer their own unique rewards to one another; rewards that could offer an incredibly beneficial stepping stone for new businesses.
With a Landing Pad almost entirely established within Singapore, once the system has been finalised it will become a fairly straight forward task for new Australian export businesses to enter the Asian market. This exclusive deal is something that is only available to Australian companies to date – and for as long as the partnership continues, the potential for Australian businesses to prosper within the Asian market will be highly substantial.
These are the aspirations of the Austrade Commission. By extending food, energy and security services, as well as financial aid and legal services to Singapore, Australia has been able to secure a potentially lifelong partner in the region, in return for a base of operations for new and established businesses to operate from.
